Abstract

Industrial development in agriculture is one of the most important factors to create new employment opportunities, increased incomes, and technological diffusion, increase production and reduce rural migration which has been considered by planners. For this, development of agro-based industries is necessary in the villages of country. However, it is noteworthy that in tandem with agriculture and animal husbandry, rural industries are underdeveloped which are faced with obstacles in industrial development. To this end, this study investigated the inhibiting factors of agro-based industries in rural areas that its study area was villages of the central part of Mamasani, Fars, Iran. Research method was cross – sectional based on the evaluation of library resources, field studies and completing the questionnaire. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS software. Results of the present study showed that proportion of economic inhibitory factors were more effective than social inhibitory factors. Also, economic and social inhibitory factors of agro-based industries were not equally important between Dashti and Koohestani villages of Mamasani. Therefore, creation of necessary fields and overcome the inhibiting factors can be helpful for development of agro-based industries of Mamasani city
