Abstract

The grasshopper Chrotogonus trachypterus is one of the most important pests in Sistan region, while quantitative and qualitative losses to crop products will increse. In this study, due to chemical pesticides problems to humans and animals and harmful effects on environment, pathogenicity Entomopathogenic fungus Paecilomyces Variotti and effect of extract Peganum Harmala were examined as a safe agents for pest control. The strain was purified in the laboratory on culture medium and plant's extract was extracted distillation method. Therefore, adult insect susceptibility to fungus was investigated by infecting inoculum method (Inoculation). Fungus concentrations included 106, 107, 108, 109 and 1010 spores per ml and control (distilled water withTween20), in four replicates for each concentration and mortality, was calculated within 10 days. In the studies, the lowest mortality for concentration was 106 spores per ml. The LC50 for fungus were 4.4×106. Positive correlation was observed between concentrations and grasshopper mortality. The highest mortality rates in the concentration 1010 spore per ml were 90%. As well as, the effect of different concentrations of Peganum harmala (30, 15, 7.5 and 3.75 Mg/ml) in third replications on adult grasshoppers in vitro was investigated. The LC50 for fungus were 6.83. With increasing the concentration of the extract used, mortality rate of pest also increased. Thus, according to the results, in high concentrations, fungus Paecilomyces variotti can be a good biological control agent and also Peganum harmala extract on the synthesis of natural pesticides is important. In general, the use of fungus and plant extracts, to control this pest in integrated management programof Sistan native pest is promising.
