Abstract

Desertification is one of the biggest environmental problems in central, south and Eastern of Iran. Main part of the desertification is depending on human and socio-economic condition of the society of this area. The aim of this research was to investigate the effects of socio-economic factor on Miyandehi desertification in this research era. ESAs method was used to analysis current desertification at the area under study. For this purpose first, map unit as a base map prepared to find score of each index, then field work and giving score to four main parameters on the buses of base table were done. According to the obtained results from the total area under study 49.38 percent belongs to critical condition with low intensity (CI), 27.7 percent at critical condition with medium intensity (C2), 21 percent at critical condition with high intensity (C3) and also 1.77 percent belongs to very high critical condition with very high intensity. Applied research method used to identify socio-economic process. Necessary data were collected by field work laboratory and questionably forms. For this purpose, the direct and indirect effects of socioeconomic problems (poverty) on desertification have been investigated.The results showed that in the study area between two factors: population growth rates and lower income levels are associated with desertification.
