Abstract

The grief of homelessness is an instinctive feeling in human beings that has also entered the realm of literature. Issues such as homelessness, separation from society, rejection of government policies, and a sense of separation from the present evoke this feeling. One of the literary genres underlying this feeling is fiction. The grief of homelessness in the story can be divided into the grief of homelessness, spatial, social, political, emotional, psychological and temporal. From its inception to the present day, Arabic literature is full of works that deal with the sorrow of homelessness, which is one of its main themes, including the poems of Atlah and Daman in pre-Islamic poetry. n the contemporary period, the grief of homelessness due to the large number of migrations is more apparent in the works of the followers of the Romantic school. Ghada Al-Saman, a contemporary Syrian poet and writer whose grief of homelessness is one of the main themes of his works; In addition to poems, it is also seen in his novels. Laylat al-Maliar is one of his most famous novels in the field of literature. The novel tells the story of Lebanese refugees who were forced to flee the country during the 1967 and 1982 civil and foreign wars. In this novel, the author tries to grieve the homesickness of the characters by depicting their moods and preoccupations. The present article tries to analyze and analyze the types of grief of homelessness in the novel Laylat al-Maliar based on the descriptiveanalytical method. Preliminary results show that the grief of spatial homelessness is most evident in this novel.
