Abstract

In today's world, the importance of exporting goods and services to countries goes beyond what has been done so far in Iran. Products produced for export should compete with similar types in international markets in terms of quality, price, and compliance with consumer preferences. Iran's diverse and suitable climatic conditions have led Iran to have some comparative advantage in the production of some agricultural crops. Saffron, pistachios is one of these products, which has always had more than half of the world market in these products in recent decades. One of the most prominent features of these products is the creation of decent income, desertification and, most importantly, significant foreign exchange earnings. Among the agricultural products, saffron is one of the most valuable products that has a unique status, which has been one of the main export products of the country during different periods. As the product of saffron is important in the economy of the country, it is necessary to apply supportive policies that will lead to the strengthening and sustainability of this product in Iran, so the present article examines the effect of government support policy on the production and export of saffron. The results showed that despite the support of saffron production in the country, saffron production in the country did not have a comparative advantage and this resulted from low price of saffron purchased from farmers inside. Meanwhile, the high profits of intermediaries and exporters have caused the price of this product on the domestic market of the country to lead to the elimination of the production advantage for farmers, which, if this is not thought of in the long run, can lead to harmful effects that the lack of production of saffron And the loss of employment in the production of this product is only part of its aftermath.
