Abstract
Literary structuralism seeks to provide the most scientific basis for literary studies. Structuralism is the method of analyzing texts and identifying its system. Greimas was one of the structuralists who initially studied the narrative science following Propp’s work. By presenting an action model and dual contrasts, he showed that all narrative components can be analyzed and are effective. The purpose of the present study was to find out the extent to which the novel “ Atash bedoone dood” conforms to the Greimas’s theory and to identify elements involved in meaning-making in this work. Attempt was also made to study the story from this perspective using a descriptive-analytical approach. Analysis of this novel revealed that Greimas’s action model, the structure of the narrative based on the changes in the situation and the narrative chain in this novel completely matches the narrative. The most part of narrative is in the middle of the novel and the action chains that are the main plot of the story. Six actors can be seen in three volumes of this novel. In the novel “Fire without Smoke”, the goal is trying to achieve the desired conditions. The “sender” actor in the first volume of the work is a character and in the next two volumes is an abstract concept. Analysis of this novel based on Greimas’s theory, shows stability of narration, structure and coherence of its components.
