Abstract
A considerable amount of frontiersmen’s need in the borders of most developing countries is satisfied through frontier traffic. Despite being unofficial and local, such transactions have a vital role in transactions among neighboring countries, improve frontiersmen’s lives, and lead to different socioeconomic consequences in the regions. Having 300 km common border with Afghanistan, Sistan- located in Sistan and Baluchistan province - is one of the border regions, which has had a crucial cultural and socioeconomic role for a long time in west of the country. Protection and control of the border during last decade across the region had positive effects; however, they have not been in accordance with the development and economic prosperity and it has led to weakening economic transactions in the border region. Therefore, this research attempts to study the economic and social impacts of state’s frontier traffic policies in border villages of the region. It used a combination of field and descriptive-analytical methods. Volume of sample villages includes 43 villages of Zahak and Hirmand cities. With respect to number of the families living in the villages and application of Cochran's formula, 380 families of the villages under study were calculated for filling out questionnaires. The questionnaires considered 70 indices concerning economic and social aspects. The economic and social impacts of state’s frontier traffic policies in villages were examined using AHP method, Expert Choice, ArcGIS, and statistical analyses in SPSS. Research results approve that construction of a border wall has intensified economic and social confusion
