Abstract

Due to the ever-increasing human need for food, Activities related to food production are increasing. Agricultural and animal husbandry have a significant impact on greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, agricultural activities with appropriate management, in addition to resource management and environmental impacts, should also increase greenhouse gas emissions. In this study, the environmental effects of wheat (rainfed and irrigation), barley (rainfed and irrigation), rice and corn production system were evaluated using a life cycle assessment method. Information on the production process was gathered at a farm level of onehectare products. The functional unit in each product was considered as a tonne of grain. Selection of the appropriate model for the production of minimum environmental impacts was carried out through an analysis hierarchical process. The criteria for designing a cropping pattern are: Earth-related resources tolls, ecosystem-related tolls, atmospheric complications and environmental side effects. The sub criteria of each criterion were classified by the results of the eleven environmental impacts assessment contained in the CML recipe. The validity and reliability of questionnaires were measured by Cronbach's α test. Considering that Cronbach's α was higher than 0.70 for each product, the designed questionnaires have a high reliability. In order to weigh the sub criteria of this research, the results of the final environmental index (ECO-X) were calculated. The data uncertainty analysis was performed to increase the validity of the test data and prevent the exponential growth of random data. The emissions in the triple environment (water, soil and air) were calculated according to literatures and models in the reports of the ecoinvent data and like all other data, were calculated based on the production of one ton of product. The products were introduced as a project in the form of producing the mentioned products in SimaPro software. Calculation of normality test, standard errors, standard deviations, coefficients of variation and other statistical calculations were performed by SimaPro and excel software for uncertainty analysis. The global warming potential for one tonne of corn grain in Khorramabad was equivalent to producing 568.4 kg.eq of CO2. The largest amount of greenhouse gas emissions for rice production systems allocated to rice 1247.435 kg.eq of CO2. The final environmental index for global warming category on corn and rice were calculated with 0.000132 and 0.000288, respectively, indicating a significant difference in greenhouse gas emissions, resulting in their production. After the final weighting of the alternatives, no significant difference was observed between one tonne of wheat and barley in the irrigation system, the weighting values for irrigation wheat and irrigation barley were calculated with 0.166 and 0.156, respectively. Production of one tonne of corn and rainfed wheat are suitable for ecological reasons, and the highest weight was considered as hierarchical analysis, with weights of 0.272 and 0.258, respectively. The final design based on the reduction of environmental impacts, following the test stages, is: corn, rainfed wheat, irrigation wheat, irrigation barley, rainfed barley and rice.
