Abstract
One of the most manifest literary phenomena of the contemporary era, whose origin is the Arabic language, is the issue of Palestine. After the 1948 Arab- Israeli War and foundation of Israeli occupying regime, and destroying the lives of Palestinians, this tragedy grabbed the attention of many literary scholars. Omar Bahaeddin al-Amiri (1915- 1992), the contemporary Syrian poet, is among the scholars who have broadly reflected the Palestinians Intifada and other manifestations of resistance literature in their poems. Al- Amiri, who due to his activities in trans-regional political movements, was familiar with the status of the life of the oppressed Arab nations, tried to reflect their pains and miseries, and through addressing the subjects such as appraisal of the Jihadists, the commemoration of the martyrs, the call for perseverance against the oppressors, the condemnation of the compromise and the betrayal of some leaders of Arab societies, awaken the silent conscience and call on his audience to fight the tyrants of time. In the current study, it has been sought to firstly, investigate the situations ruling al-Amiri’s life and then, based on the descriptive-analytic method, analyze the phenomena of resistance literature in his poems, besides investigating his strategies in this regard. The investigation of resistance themes in the poems of Omar Bahaeddin al-Amiri indicates that occupation of Palestine by Israel has led to the emergence of resistance themes in his poems and the most important resistance motif for him is the invitation to Islamic identity and homeland.
