Abstract

The towns are the place of life and relationships. The relationship happens in sidewalk causes social life of the society. Whatever this space is safe, obvious, beautiful, diverse, and clear in social life will be stronger, mere clear, and more sustainable. Sidewalks are the best context for social life. These can be places to show the nature of urban proportion with their qualification in safety and their land use. Actually, sidewalks provide the longer staying in urban space. The purpose of this paper is surveying the safety of sidewalks with participation of citizens in Zabol city. The methodology of this paper is descriptive – analysis, based on study of documents, field surveying and interviews. The participated population of this research is between 15–65 years old. This group not only has he most frequently in population but also is most independent in access in social life. So they are more connected to the society for many goals such as going to school or work and walking and shopping by foot. Therefore, this group is more able to understand and perceive their environment. The analysis of the information is done by SPSS software. The results of paper show the safety index is 38.18 which is less than 42 that is average. So the reviewed index are affected on reduce of safety. Also the use of PUA meetings shows that fixation of people to the space and their living location are increase with increase of citizen participation, therefore they try to provide more safety
