Abstract

Selection usually consider as the most important tool for dairy cattle breeding. Total income which obtained from dairy cattle herds mainly influenced by improving of several economically important traits, therefore, selection based on Economic Selection Index is indispensable for dairy cattle breeding. In the present study a total number of 39916 records of milk yield, fat yield, protein yield and calving interval used for creating of economic selection index of Moghan Agro-Industry Company dairy Holsteins'. Estimates of variance-covariance and genetic parameters were done using REML methodology and ASReml software. Estimates of heritabilities for milk yield, fat yield, protein yield and calving interval were 0.21, 0.26, 0.16 and 0.06, respectively. Genetic correlations between studied traits varied differently and were between 0.17 for fat yield-calving interval to 0.97 for milk yield-protein yield. Range of environmental correlations varied between -0.11 for protein yield-calving interval to 0.78 for milk yield-fat yield traits. Moreover, phenotypic correlations of studied traits were between -0.05 for protein yiled-calving interval to 0.86 for milk yield-protein yield. To formation of relative economic value vector between traits, economic value for each one kg for milk yield, fat yield and protein yield and each day for calving interval considered as 12000, 220000, 0 and -140000 Rials. Figures which used in economic index obtained from multiplying of inverse of phenotypic variance-covariance matrix by additive genetic variancecovariance matrix by vector of relative economic values. These figures for fat yield and calving interval were 0.15, 5.47 and -0.82, respectively, which used for selection of best animals in this herd.
