Abstract
Sand storm is one of the natural phenomenons that often happens in arid and semi – arid areas, and affects more than 40 percent of the world lands. These storms have many destructive effects on those areas, especially rural areas, and it leads to the destruction human settlements. Since Iran is located in the desert belt, it has not been safe due to sand storms. Sistan is an exceptional region because of local winds that are called « 120 days winds and sand storms». Therefore these storms and their effects on this area need to be studied more. This research aims at studying the negative effects of these storms on rural settlement. To this first, we conducted a library research and collected the related documents, and then, through experimental research and arbitrary sampling and also by using GIS, taxonomy ranking and etc. the collected data has been analyzed the results showed that all of the research hypothesis are supported and these sand storms have negative effects such as destruction movements, destruction of farms and migration and etc on rural settlement
