Abstract

Each story includes elements; And character is the most important and most fundamental of the story elements. Character is creature of the author's imagination that appears in the dramatic or narrative. Therefore, his psychological and moral characteristics can be observed in his actions and what he says and does. The process of creating characters in the world of fiction, so called characterization. In fact, the characterization is the key and foundation of any kind of story. Characters can be examined from different aspects such as the role of action, semantics, languages and dialects, relation of character with the environment and place, etc. Almost, all the fictions seek helps from fictional characters for plot and theme's presentation. considering the importance of this issue, in this study was based on the metod descriptive-analytical, been tried to be examined aspects of the character and characterization in the fitions of Ebrahim Golestan, Iranian writer and literary stylist. The findings suggest that Golestan has been able to establish a significant relationship between the characters and other story elements. The more characters in these stories are people disillusioned, secluded and hopeless. Golestan introduces the characters in his stories often with the indirect method using their speech, actions and thoughts. Although the direct method is used. Also, he has a special ability to representation to the characters's internal conflictes and their Inducing emotions. The main characters in his stories often are simple and static.
