Abstract

The acute toxicity test and histopathological examinations on Schizothorax zarudnyi exposed to Diazinon were performed according to O.E.C.D. guidelines on juveniles weighted 2±0.2 g in 22±2°C ambient temperature. The LC50 96h value of Diazinon for Schizothorax zarudnyi juveniles was14.70 mg/l , which can be classified as low toxicity xenobiotic. Nervous reactions against external stimuli, disorientation, circular swimming and flashing in addition to scoliosis, Lordosis and exophthalmia were observed in poisoned fishes. Histopathological examinations were carried out, also histopathological pictures of liver, kidneys and gills showed moderate to acute abnormalities due to treatments with Diazinon. The results of this research could be useful in management of interior aquatic ecosystems and preserving valuable resources of native fishes.
