Abstract
One of the major problems in hatchery center around the world is the water molds. Saprolegniaceae is the main family of these molds. Much research has been done to deal with these pests in the past and have been introduced various chemicals. Chemicals that are used to destroy mold, but environmental problems are created. So, the use of herbal anti-fungi is the best solution for this problem. Sumac (Rhus coriaria) is a medicinal plant with antibacterial and antioxidant properties that is much used in food science. In this study, watery and methanol extract of leaf and fruit of sumac are used to eliminate the invading fungi rainbow trout (Onchorhynchus mykiss) eggs. Extracts were used in 4 doses of 2000, 1500, 1000 and 500 mg/L with 12_hour periods. Each time the eggs were disinfected for 15 minutes. Comparison with malachite green and formalin treatments were done as control. Studies show that sumac extracts have antifungal properties and completely inhibited the activity of fungi. Important finding in this study is that the methanol extract of sumac fruit in the dose of 2000 mg/L significantly better than malachite green and formalin (P≤0/05).
