Abstract

The present study probed teacher learning opportunities in Iranian EFL context. Semi structured and focused group interviews were employed to collect qualitative data from 9 educators and 34 pre-EFL teachers at two state universities in Iran. The focus of this grounded theory(Rice and Ezzy, 1999) research was exploring the issue of creation and use of teacher learning opportunities. Qualitative data was collected from eliciting the participating teachers’ and educators’ opinions. Constant comparative analysis of data allowed the researchers to understand and generate a grounded theory( Rice and Ezzy,1999) on different teacher learning opportunities that were created and used in Iranian EFL context. Drawing on rich data featured in natural context, the study shed more light on our understanding of situated teacher learning opportunities. In addition, it might promise some implications for teacher professional learning.
