Abstract
The aim of this study was conducted to evaluate effect of nettle powder supplementation on growth performance, survival and feed efficiency parameters of Common carp (Cyprinus carpio). An 8-week feeding trial Four diets containing 0, 1, 2 and 3% of nettle powder were fed to fish (initial body weight 5.41 ± 1.58 g/fish) in triplicate aquaria three times daily. Prior to initiating the experiment, the juvenile carps were fed the commercial diet for 7 days to acclimatize the laboratory conditions. During experiment the fish were fed daily at 5% of biomass. Every two weeks the weight and length of fish measured. At the end of the experiment, all surviving fish were weighed and counted to determine growth parameters, survival rate. The highest survival rate (77.77±3.84%) was obtained with diets containing 3% nettle powder that was significantly more than control group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference between group in body composition (P>0.05). The results indicated that fish fed control diets had significantly increased growth performance and feed parameters compared with fish fed with containing nettle powder diet (P<0.05). These results showed supplemented diet with of nettle powder could not promote the growth of juvenile Common carp, improve survival rate and higher FCR.
