Abstract

To study the effect of different levels of salinity of characteristics on morphological and physiological traits of lettuce (Lactuca sativa) indicators as salinity tolerance under hydroponic conditions. Experiment base on completely randomized design as factorial, with three replications, was conducted at biotechnology research institute of Zabol University in 2013. Treatments of experiment includes, three surface of salinity such as (zero, 2 ,4 ds/m) and 15 genotype of lettuce. The studied of characteristics of morphological and physiological traits including: germination rate, wet and dry weight of root, air organs, length of root and bushes, including: germination rate, wet and dry weight of root, air organs, length of root and bushes, leaf surface, length of leaf, SPAD Chlorophyll, a chlorophyll, b chlorophyll, total chlorophyll, carotenoid, Proline, Amount of carbohydrate soluble, Relative water content, Membrane stability index, Sodium and potassium concentrations and the ratio. After measuring traits, statistical analysis achieved for phenotypic surveys such as analysis of variance, correlation between traits, Stepwise regression, cluster analysis, principal component analysis and factor analysis. Analysis of variance showed significant difference between salinity levels and genotype for all the traits. Interaction of genotype and salinity for all the traits except root length, plant height and leaf were significant at 1%. In salinity levels 4ds/m was, Ferdos Salad Lettuce and Lettuce Salad genotypes had the highest proline, the genotypes of Romaine lettuce long and Curly endive hair angel the highest of soluble sugars and germination rate. The Varzaneh leaf of lettuce genotype lowest sodium in salinity levels 4 ds/m was the most tolerant genotype than other genotypes were identified. Maximum correlation between the concentration of potassium in the plant under stress conditions (669/0**) was observed. Using cluster analysis grouped genotypes was performed on normal and 2ds/m,4 ds/m salt stress conditions 4, 4 and 3, respectively, were identified. In The PCA (principal components analysis) analysis, the first five principal components explained 89/48% of the total variability in normal condition and the first seven principal components explained 90/95%, 89/94% of the total variability in 2ds/m,4 ds/m salt stress condition. Factor analysis, several factors were extracted secret that more than 89% of the total variation and named as morphological factor, Water- holding capacity factor and morphophysiological factor respectively. Biplot Analysis of stress, genotype Romaine lettuce long green Teresa, genotype were rated relative to the components as genotype under stress conditions were ideal.
