Abstract

Humor is one of the techniques and methods of artistic and effective expression in literature. Poets during the constitutional period have used this type of literature in order to achieve their revolutionary goals. Sayed Ashraf Al-Din Gilani (north breeze) and Mirzadeh Eshghi are are among the most prominent poets of the Qajar period who have used humor in their lyrics. This study aimed at better understanding of the humor aspect mentioned by the poets, it was assumed that there were abundant differences between the poetry of Sayed Ashraf Al-Din Gilani and Mirzadeh Eshghi in terms of using humor. This study was done in descriptive and analytical method to review four chapters: generality, humor in poetry of north breeze, humor in the poetry works of Sayed Ashraf Al-Din Gilani and Mirzadeh Eshghi. The results indicated that the structure, content and format of poetic irony in the poems of Sayed Ashraf Al-Din Gilani compared to the poetry of Mirzadeh Eshghi has more diversity, distribution and greater impact and it has been a major factor in the popularity and longevity of the poet and his poetic works.
