Abstract

Nowadays herbal plants production in order to answer to physician requirements and reduction of chemical drugs usage has been under consideration. Environmental circumstances which this types of plants can grow, lead to important changes in amount and quality of its effective matters. Although in this case, there isn’t possibility of control of some factors, by some methods management of environmental effects is possible which plant can appear its potential, under that circumstances. Artemisia Annua L. is one of the most important drugs which to days have many applications in cancer and malaria treatments. This research aimed at considering biological fertilizer effect (Nitroxin, Bio-phosphorus and Vermicompost) and chemical fertilizer (N, P) on the quantitative characteristics (stem height, number of subsidiary branches, number of leaves, wet and dry weight and water amount of underground and air organs in 2 stages of before and after flowering) and qualitative characteristics (chlorophyll amount (a, b and total), effective matter of Artemisinin and leaves’ soluble protein amount) of Artemisia Annua L. an experiment was carried out in factorial design in completely randomized design with 4 replications in an experimental green house which was located in Tehran. Qualitative experiments have been done in biotechnology lab of Hamdard University, New Delhi, India. Experimental treatment involved chemical fertilizers (N, P) in 4 levels (N0P0, N40P40, N80P40, N80P80) and biological fertilizers in 4 levels (control, Nitroxin [include bacteria which stimulus growth (Azotobacter and Azospirillum)], Bio-phosphorus [(include bacteria which stimulus growth (Bacillus and Pseudomonas)] and Vermicompost). Results showed that biological fertilizers and increase of different levels of chemical fertilizers (N, P) had significant effects on all the features. Considering means comparison showed that biological fertilizers lead to significant enhancement on all the characteristics and among biological fertilizers, Vermicompost treatment has the most effect. Considering means comparison tables of different levels of chemical fertilizer have been found that N80P80) had the most increase on characteristics. Interaction effects on steam height before flowering, steam dry weight after flowering and Artemisinin content in 1% level and dry and wet weight of steam, steam water content, root length, dry and wet weight of root after flowering and chlorophyll (a, b, total) were significant in 5% level.
