Abstract
Every year, Parasitic infestations cause significant economic losses, including reduced production and diseases, and imposes treatment costs to livestock owners. Indentifying the existing parasite species in a region, is essential for designing an effective program for contrling the parasitic infestations and preventing or delaying drug resistance. Since no comprehensive research had been conducted to show the prevalence of gastrointestinal parasites in ruminants in Minab county, this study was carried out for this purpose in this county. In this study, to investigate the prevalence of gastrointestinal parasites in ruminants in Minab county during the summer and autumn of 2021, 100 random samples from the digestive tract of sheep, 100 samples from goats, and 50 samples from cattle were collected from the slaughterhouse. The contents of the gastrointestinal tract were examined using both non-staining and staining methods. This examination revealed the prevalence of Haemonchus contortus (15%), Parabronema skrjabini (10%), Moniezia expansa (9%), and Ostertagia (5%) in sheep, and Marshalagia (14%), Parabronema skrjabini (7%), Trichuris (6%), and Moniezia expansa (5%) in goats. No parasitic eggs were observed in cattle in this study. The results showed a high prevalence of gastrointestinal parasitic infections in ruminants in Minab county
