Abstract

The importance of examining historical monuments is not hidden from anyone. In the historical architecture of Iran, one of the important dimensions of historical buildings is decorations. The architectural period of Qaraqoyunlu is one of the periods when mosaic tile reached its peak. One of the historical monuments of the Qaraqoyunlu period is Imamzadeh Darb-e Imam. Imamzadeh Darb-e Imam, or Imamzadeh Zain-ol-Abedin, is a tomb complex in the Sanbulistan neighborhood in Isfahan. This historical monument has attracted a lot of attention in terms of religion and architecture. But one of its key dimensions that has received less attention is the tile decorations of Imamzadeh courtyards. This complex has experienced development and reconstruction many times throughout history. In such a way, the structure of the architectural structure and various decorations from different periods of history have added to the importance of this collection. The broken geometry motifs used in the mosaic tiles, Haft Rang, etc., follow the fixed principles of knots. But another tiling geometric pattern is also used, which is similar to a combination of Penrose pattern and molecular crystal pattern. The purpose of this research is to analyze and investigate the geometrical features of the mosaic and seven-color tiles used from the Qaraqoyunlu period to the present in Imamzadeh Darb-e-Imam. Historical sources of architecture in the field of Iranian geometry are limited. This is despite the fact that geometry is the basis of Iranian architecture after Islam. The research method used is descriptive and analytical, and its information is collected through the archival method and fieldwork. By identifying the vagirehs of the Imamzadeh Darb-Imam tiles, the gerehs using naming, checking the background, analyzing the vagirehs and their frames; It is analyzed through logical reasoning.
