Abstract

Language is a system of signs that includes thoughts and ideas and a means of communication and interaction between people. From one point of view, language can be seen as a social phenomenon that is related to ideology, power, history, politics and social norms. Critical discourse analysis is a new approach in discourse analysis that has been used in a wide range of researches in genres in recent decades. Norman Fairclough's theory of critical discourse analysis is one of the most famous theories in the field of discourse analysis, which tries to express the relationship between the internal and external criteria of the text, and analyze the dominant power of the society in which the literary work was created through the three axes of description, explanation and interpretation. to give Since the ruling discourse in any society is affected by various factors such as culture, economy, ideology, form of government and way of life; Therefore, this discourse can be shown in various aspects of the culture of that society, such as oral literature, idioms and proverbs. Proverbs are among these discourses that have sociological-linguistic value due to being based on cultural characteristics. For this reason, in the present study, an attempt is made to analyze and evaluate 100 selected proverbs from the famous Arabic proverbs, relying on the descriptive-analytical method and referring to the Farklaf discourse analysis model. The preliminary results show that the historical and situational context of the Arab society has been significantly effective in the process of forming the discourse of selected Arabic proverbs. Also, the identity approaches in the selected Arabic proverbs are in line with highlighting the Arabic culture.
