Abstract

The novel is an interwoven network of story elements in which the character creates the events and has a close relationship with all the elements. The characters of the novel are the active signs that the author processes to explode his thoughts in the form of words and combinations. Therefore, several theorists have achieved various categories of characterization in the novel, including these theorists, Philip Hamon, who is different from other theories of characterization with a more recent look at the element of character, his theory is based on four The principle of personality types is the sign, the signified, and the description of the character. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the character element in the novel Zini Barakat by the Egyptian novelist Jamal Al-Ghitani from the perspective of Philip Hamon using descriptive-analytical method.
