Abstract

Magical realism is one of the types of realism in the field of literature, in which the creator of a literary work, in addition to recording and reporting reality, in order to create more attractiveness and to distance himself from sloganeering, uses strategies such as mythologizing, fantasy and imagination. The way it becomes difficult to distinguish reality from imagination. Many consider Gabriel García Márquez to be the founder of the magical realism style in the famous novel One Hundred Years of Solitude, and many writers around the world have used this famous work as their model in magical realism storytelling. Shahd al-Ravi (1986) is one of the contemporary Arab storytellers who, according to his own admission, imitated Marx's style in his novel "The Hour of Baghdad". Based on the descriptive-analytical method and based on the French school of comparative literature, the present essay tries to analyze the effects of magical realism in the above-mentioned two novels. The initial findings indicate that each In processing the events, two authors have benefited from surreal elements such as the myth of fictional characters and fantasy to make the narrative more attractive. Also, the long drawn-out and illusory descriptions of places and characters, the fluidity of time and the use of prophetic features are among the outstanding similarities of the two novels. The difference between the two novels is that the events at the time of the Baghdad clock are closer to reality.
