Abstract

Psychological criticism in literature refers to a way in which the works of a particular author are analyzed through a psychological lens. This approach of the author psychologically analyzes the work or character in his work. This helps readers understand the author's motivations as well as the characters. In fiction, the characters of the story have individual characteristics, such as appearance, morals, thoughts, intelligence, and mentality, which the reader gets to know over time. Meanwhile, some works give more importance to psychological aspects and personality intelligence. Among them, in Arabic literature, the novel "Shadows of Ali al-Nafzah" written by Ghabib Tome Farman and in Persian literature the novel "Symphony of the Dead" by Abbas Maarofi. The current research is based on the descriptive-analytical and statistical method in order to explain and compare the intelligence of the characters of the novel "Symphony of the Dead" and "Shadows of Ali Al Nafazeh" based on the theory of "Howard Gardner". Based on this, the four prominent characters of these two works, named Fazel and Abdul Wahid in the novel Zalal Ali Al-Nafzah and Aydin and Orhan from the novel Symphony of the Dead, were analyzed and compared based on Gardner's theory of eight intelligences. Among its most important results, it can be mentioned that Fazel had better mathematical, physical and movement intelligence than Gardner's other intelligences in statistical analysis. Abdul Wahid had good performance in intrapersonal and mathematical intelligence and Aydin in spatial and mathematical intelligence and Orhan had acceptable performance in intrapersonal and naturalistic intelligence. In general, physical-movement intelligence in Fazel's personality, mathematical intelligence in Abdulvahid's personality, spatial intelligence in Aydin's personality and intrapersonal intelligence in Orhan's personality had better performance and frequency.
