Abstract

The performance of the horse as an animal used for sports is very important. However, the performance result of the examination is a combination of structural, physiological and behavioral characteristics in which conformation is evaluated as a special feature in relation to performance and conformation evaluation leads to a better understanding of motor organ diseases. These desirable characteristics are considered as the main demand for breeders in the efficiency of horses in all breeds. Our goal is to identify and evaluate the statistical percentage of conformation in horses in Golestan region. The evaluation of the conformation of the horse in this study is based on observation and clinical examination. In this research, the age, sex and breed of horse were considered as independent variables and their effect on all kinds of abnormalities of motor organs were investigated. Pearson chi-square test was used for statistical analysis of data. The factors evaluated for body conformation based on the indicators considered in the research were examined in terms of significance and among these, there was a significant relationship between the condition of the hoof in the hind limb organ and the sex of the horse, which was more normal in the case of hoof. And in the meantime a number of cases of buttress foot were also observed. Also, there is a significant relationship between the bench knee factor in the front limb organ and sex as well as breed and this deviation was more in stallions than in mares, moreover, it was observed more in Thoroughbred breed than other breeds. Regarding the characteristic of knock knee in the front limb organ, a significant relationship was observed with the horse breed, and this observation was more in the Turkmen breed than in other breeds. According to the obtained findings, it was found that there is no significant difference in the evaluated factors in the breeds investigated in the research.
