Abstract
Introduction Native breed chickens have been shown to have better resistance against pathogens because of their high immunocompetence and strengthen immune response than those of commercial broilers chicken. Nevertheless, the mechanisms contributing to this are poorly understood. However, it has been shown that Birds transmit various types of maternal antibodies including IgY (IgG), IgA, and IgM to their offspring by depositing the antibodies in the egg. Maternal antibody transfer, transfer of antibodies by a female to her offspring, in the wide-range organism has been shown to have profound immunomodulatory effects on both of progeny’s innate and adoptive immune system. Furthermore, it has been demonstrated that egg yolk hormones, may also critically shape the development of the offspring's immunity. Breed, age and sex–specific egg yolk environment was also well documented especially in the chicken model. Thus, breed-specific differences in yolk component might be underlying some of these breeds specific immune characteristic feature.
