Abstract

One of the most important factors in achieving sustainable production of agricultural products is the study and management of biological effects. In recent years, one of the most well-known efficient methods in calculating the environmental impact of agricultural production is the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) method. By measuring the two indicators of resource consumption and emissions of pollutants, the life cycle evaluation index is used to estimate the environmental effects of production of a particular product or process. Therefore, crop systems can be accurately calculated using this method. From the life cycle assessment method as a target process, in order to calculate the capacity of the environment in the production process, the process of determining the energy of activities, consumables and wastes left in the environment is determined. The rapid development of the life cycle assessment method is due to its very important role in calculating various activities. Accordingly, this study was conducted to evaluate the environmental effects of garlic and wheat production in Sistan region using the life cycle assessment method in the 2019-2020 crop year in Sistan region. Data related to the amount of consumption inputs were collected in the form of a questionnaire from farmers in the region and finally simopro ver 8.3 software was used to investigate the environmental effects. According to the results of this study, it can be said that inputs such as machinery, diesel fuel and electricity in most of the impact classes studied in this study played the largest share.
