Abstract

Reproductive performance is a crucial factor in ensuring the economic efficiency of dairy herds. Reproductive performance is strongly influenced by the daily milk yield of each cow, the cost of artificial insemination, the rate of removal from the herd and the genetic progress of the herd. The decline in fertility in recent decades is a problem that has plagued the dairy industry. Various factors are involved in reducing the fertility of a herd. One of the factors that has become more prevalent in recent years is cystic ovarian disease. The disease, on average, increases the interval between two calvings by 50 days and causes other herd reproductive indicators to decline. The aim of this study was to investigate the factors causing ovarian follicular cyst in an industrial herd of dairy cattle in Shahrekord. For this purpose, ovaries of 558 dairy cows in the studied herd were examined in a purity test (30-35 days postpartum) and subsequent examinations of the rectum and ultrasonography for follicular cyst. Follicular structures with a diameter of 2.5 cm and larger in the absence of a yellow object were considered as follicular cysts. The effect of parity factors, milk production, dystocia, retain placenta, stillbirth, abortion, parturition, calf sex and ovarian cyst history in previous lactation regression models using SPSS statistical software Multivariate logistic was analyzed. The results of this study showed that the incidence of ovarian follicular cyst was higher in cows born to multiparous cows than in cows that had a history of ovarian cysts compared to cows that did not experience ovarian cysts. Was significantly higher. Other factors had no significant effect on the incidence of ovarian cyst. The incidence of follicular cyst in the studied herd was 16%. Therefore, parity and history of cysts are the predisposing factors of ovarian follicular cyst in the studied dairy herd.
