Abstract
Nonverbal communication as one of the branches of psychology encompasses a wide range of body activities called body language. Body language includes messages that people convey through eyes, facial expressions and gestures. It has a significant frequency in literary texts and also helps the reader understand the text. The present study attempts to extract the body language of the novels of the Time of Mu'aah ( 1960 AD) from Kolit Al- Khouri and Bamdad Khomar(1395) from Fattaneh Haj Sayyed Javadi and then these components examine based on frequency (happiness, sorrow, anger, affection, surprise, fear, ridicule, etc.), in a few sections of facial expressions, motor behaviors, hand movements and head movements based on the descriptive-analytic method. The results show that in the interpersonal relationships of story characters - especially female characters - body language associated with facial expressions has a high frequency (67% of Ayaam Maah and 55% of Bamdad Khomar) . This level of performance illustrates the importance of this channel in the interpersonal relationships of the characters in the story. Also, the functions of body language in the novel of the Maah Ayaam are more concerned with positive meanings, which in sum are satisfaction with the past, happiness in the present, and hope for the future. This is in keeping with the female characters' moods and their more affirmative and peaceful personality type. On the other hand, body language functions in the Bamdad Khomar novel hinge on negative concepts that sum up dissatisfaction with the past, sadness in the present, and the discontinuation of hope for the future. This characteristic corresponds to the moods of the story's female characters and their more dominant personality type.
