Abstract
Rural habitats as the oldest form of human communities have been developed and expanded as a result of changes in the people's lifestyles based on agriculture. In this regard, the predominant lifestyle in these life foci is an important factor for the context, body and form of houses as well as reflecting the function of the village in that region. Therefore, positioning, texture, framework, and the general shape of Iran’s rural houses are closely related to the type of living, production, and economic resources in the village. From this viewpoint, the present study aims at investigating and analyzing the effects of change in the pattern of cultivation on the habitat system of rural areas of Sirjan Township. This research has adopted a descriptive-analytical approach based on field/library study (questionnaire) and searching through the internet; to analyze the data the SPSS software and to analyze the location data the software ArcGIS10 are used. Based on the results of Kruskal–Wallis test and a less than 0.05 significance level, a significant difference was found between the extent of change in the pattern of cultivation and the spatial structure and socio-economical functions. Also, based on the results of this study, among the economic indicators, Firouzeh village with a mean of 4.09, among the social indicators, Islam Abad village with a mean of 3.92 and among the spatial indicators, Mobarakeh village with a mean of 4.08 had the highest level of change. The results indicate that change in the pattern of cultivation has led to change in the system of habitats that is reflected in the change in spatial structure and socio-economic function of rural habitats of the area under study
