Abstract
The poets’ pleasing poems about the Ahl -Bayt are widely reflected in the History of Arab literature. People such as Ka’ab ibn Zohair and Hassan ibn Sabet, from the very initial days of Islam, have composed sincere poems praising the Ahl -Bayt, and afterwards, in each era, on one hand, the poets have showed their affection towards the Ahl -Bayt and on the other hand, they have shown their abhorrence towards their enemies. Habib ibn Owth Taei, known as Abutammam (803-846) is among the poets composing poems for Ahl -Bayt, reflecting their high humanistic characteristics piety, justice, courage, science, sacrifice, and so on in their poems. The current study which aimed at investigation of the Ahl -Bayt description in the Abutammam works, conducted in descriptive-analytical method, has sought to, besides collecting the Ahl - Bayt virtues, implied by the poet in his works, investigate the reasons behind his turn to praising the Ahl al- Bayt. The results indicate that the most frequent virtue of the Ahl -Bayt in Abutammam’s poems has been their selection by the Almighty Allah,and the most important reason for his turn to praising the Ahl -Bayt has been his acquaintance with the Shi’ite poem, Dayk ibn al-Jin Hemesi, and being affected by this poet’s thoughts.
