Abstract

The use of medicinal herbs has been used in different forms to treat many diseases since years, so research on native species of Iran has attracted the attention of researchers in this field. This research was conducted to evaluate the phytochemical and morphological characteristics of Otostegia persica in some natural habitats areas of Sistan and Baluchestan province, including Saravan, Khash, Mehrestan and Sarbaz. The results showed that morphological traits such as height, number of branches, internode distance, and petiole distance have significant differences between cities and regions. There was no significant difference between cities and areas within cities for phenolic stem, sodium leaf, leaf calcium, leaf flavonoids, chlorophyll b, nitrogen, silt and EC. However, the leaf and root phenol content, plant carbohydrate, plant potassium, stem and root flavonoids, carotenoid and chlorophyll showed a significant differences between cities and regions. The results of this research shows that there is a significant correlation between the elements in the soil and mineral elements of the plant. The results of GC-MS are the essential oils of the leaves and flowers of the plant compounds such as alcohols, terpenes, ketones and hydrocarbons. These compounds are active in biological compounds, the properties of which are likely to contribute to the use of traditional medicine. The highest percentage of essential oil of thymol and p-Mentha-1,5,8-triene forms the leaf and flower essence. It has effect on lowering blood pressure due to its medicinal properties. The medicine is used in the treatment of skin diseases such as acne, psoriasis and dermatitis associated with phenolic compounds. Therefore, it can be mentioned that the differences observed in the studied traits can be due to the differences in ecological characteristics of areas such as temperature, humidity and altitude from the sea level, or other soil and geographic factors.
