Abstract

Handicapped is a biological and social phenomenon that all of societies a part from development degree, industrialized and unindustrialized countries, are exposed to it. The importance of using urban spaces for different groups is manifest nowadays. The study of the public spaces with attention to handicapped and disability requirement and programming is one of necessarily of each society, especially our society, that contain many handicapped and disability after inflicted war. In this research with attention to subject importance, we explain one of the handicapped and disability requirements in urban space that is public space. The aim of the present research is to study and assess the public urban space with attention to handicapped and disability requirement in 3 regions of Shiraz city, center, Azadi Park, and Hafeziye. The method of the study is based on the library and document studies, observe researches, interview, and delivery information by competition. SPSS software was used for analyzing the data. For determining and classifying the sample region Topsis decision model was used. Results showed that unsuitable public space devises and un-achievement cause the main problem. Heavy traffic and disability with 23/4 percentage, unsuitable sidewalk and holes, uneven pavement level is other problems with 21/3 percentage. In Hafeziye 22/3 and in Azadi park 18/3. Urban traffic position, Using Topsis model, showed that traffic position in city center was undesirable (0 ≤ 0 /177 ≤1), in Azadi Park was a little desirable (0 ≤ 0 / 390 ≤1) and in Hafezeye region was in desirable position (0 ≤ 0 / 744 ≤1).
