Abstract
Novel is a narrative which originated from imagination or a mixture of imagination and reality. This gener is written based on human customs and shows society status quo. For this reason, today these literary geners have considerably advanced in nation’s literature arena. Considering themes and contents, novels are categorized in different types and historical novel is one of these types which deals with historical facts and is a subset of realism school. In this type of novel, the writer mixes historical facts with storied imagination and rebuils history. Amongst features which makes this type of novel attractive for different segments (classes) of society and understandable for public we can name two features: these works are based on a mix of historical facts and they are also fantastic. Two contemporary Iranian and Egxptian writers, Naguib Mahfouz (1912-2006) and Ebrahim Modarresi (1297-1386), have write novels based on historical facts and due to dominance on history of their ancient countries,they have drawn historican documentations so artfully. Therefore, due to importance of historical novel, in this study, relying on analytical method and comparative approach, we will try to review and investigate story elements (plot, litude) and features of historical novel in two novels namely radobins by Naguib Mahfouz and Bride of Madaen by Ebrahim Modarresi.
