Abstract

Literary works, regarding every nation, are in fact representations of social issues and play the most important role in changing and transforming the culture. Literature and society are constantly affecting and being affected by each other. Thus, understanding the rules and social institutions and traditions and customs, are of utmost importance when considering literature. One of the most expanded areas of every nation’s literature is the one for children and adolescents and it plays a very important role in preparing them for entering the society. The present study tries to, using the descriptive-analytic method, depict th society in the children’s and adolescent’s literary fictions by considering a selection of works from renowned writers in this regard. To achieve this aim scientifically, the study is based on the sociology theory by Lucien Goldmann. And, adopting the structural functionalism theory by Parsons, the fundamental institutions of the society (e.g. family, educational, political, economic, and religious-cultural) have been studied by presenting frequency tables. Results of the study indicated that all fundamental institutions of the society exist in children and adolescent’s literary fictions and the special importance surrounding the family is the common point and the most important part of these works.
