Abstract

Leafeater butterfly Diaphania indica (Pyralidae: Lepidoptera) have host preferred with two methods one is biology and second is nutritional indicators. The above mentioned pest to consider on four varieties of cucumber such as: (Royal, Kavrish, Ladis and spiny Neptona), one variety of squash and one variety of melon in laboratory conditions. By study of biology of ebove mentioned pest indicate. The average length of different developmental period constant temperature 25 0C and relative humidity of 65±5 by nutritional four varities of cucumber (Royal, kavrish, Ladis and Spiny neptona), one variety of squash and one variety of melon such as 34.308, 33.779, 33,803, 34.277, 33,396 and 34.113 days respectively. The highest development period belong to royal cucumbers, second one to Spiny neptonaThe shortest development period belong to squash specias. The highest number of in all duration of developmental period observed on variety of cucumber kavrish, while the lowest number of death was observed on melon specias. The result of biology of the mentioned pest on different host preference has been shown significant difference, in all stage of development period on different host, To study nutritional indicators of leaf eater butterfly of diaphania indica on six plant(treatment) has been shown, the variety of Spiny neptona, compared to another five treatment having lowest preferance to d. indica, and having some what less sensitivity to compased to mentioned pest, beacouse the shortest average (2.86%) the amount of food eater conversion efficiency (ECI) and lowest (7.397%). The amount food digested (ECD) related To above mentioned variety. The highest (95%) of consumption rate (RCR), belong to mentioned variety. Consumption indicator (CI) and digested indicator (ad) on Spiny neptona cucumber compared To another variety was more the mentioned plant having lowest preference on leaf eater butterfly. On the other hand squash plant and then melon having lowest preference for the above mentioned pest. The result from nutritional indicators has been shown as biology and different length of development period the mentioned host preference.
