Abstract

Due to the importance of proteins and therefore meat types in the food basket of households, meat types demand function has high importance to forecast its demand. Systems of consumer demand implies how consumers allocate their income between various goods. In the present study, using an almost ideal demand system (AIDS) during 1358-89, the pattern of demand for meat with a three-stage least squares (3SLS) with both conventional and Bayesian approaches were estimated and compared. Results showed that in AIDS demand system in both conventional and Bayesian approaches, income elasticity of fish meat demand is higher that red and chicken meat, and own price elasticity of red meat is more than and fish and chicken meats are less than one. Also, results showed that with respect to the minimum error evaluation criteria, Bayesian method has less error. So, Bayesian approach has better condition and can be considered for policy makers of agricultural sector in strategic decision making of consumers behavior in meat products consumption
