Abstract

Sperm motility is one of the basic indicators to measure sperm quality of fishes. This study aimed to investigate the sperm motility of silver carp (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix) exposed to various concentrations of lead chloride and mercury chloride was carried out. To this purpose, selected four piece male fish from talented fishes that maintenance in generating ponds of zahak fishes propagation center, and sperm of fishes set under contact with concentrations 0.01, 0.1, 1, 10 and 100 miligram per liter lead chloride and mercury chloride, and comparison parameters of motility period length and sperm motility percentage in compare with control group. the results showed that decrease sperm motility parameters with increase of pollution concentration (p<0.05). although results showed that mercury effect intensity more than lead in decrease of sperm motility, but with passing of time, whatever decreased from sperm motility percentage, sensitivity rate than less concentrations was sensible. so that time at it only 10% or 40% of sperms has moving, in contact with 0.01 miligram per liter lead and mercury significant different than control group is shown. whereas comparison time that 80% of sperms has moving, less difference than control group is shown. thus, according to the above, reproduction breeder efficiency is under influence of sperm motility. therefore, contact silver carp sperm with lead and mercury, reduce of sperm quality will follow.
